Intelligence Is A Curse: I look too young

  • melissa · 7 months ago
I do not wish to offend you, but if I did not know you, I would say 16, maybe 18 at the most. Not 14 though, I think people are silly sometimes. Someday, trust me, you will love that people tell you look younger than your age.

I am not offended thanks...can't wait until that "day of appreciation" comes! :)
  • Sarah · 7 months ago
You have one of those faces where I just can't tell. Some qualities about your face make you look like you're 10 or 11 but then there are others where you look to be 16 or 17. You'll appreciate looking young when you get older!
  • Karen · 7 months ago
Melissa is right...though i know how that would feel. I tell you i get annoyed before that i was told i look older than older my sister, some of her friends thought i'm the older one...i don't know if they were just teasing but i kinda got offended by it then i try not to mind it. Some say now i look young and i take it as a compliment heehee. Just don't mind what they say. But you do look young like 16, oh please don't hate me for saying that huhuhuhu. I mean no harm.

Well you have a good day and God Bless :D

One day you are going to be extremely thankful for it. It'll save you from the mighty botox pokes.

    LOL about the botox comment.
But I agree, you look so young and fresh, there's nothing to worry about!

I'm a notoriously bad judge of how old people are, but I reckon you look about 18. People have said I look young for my age as well but I am quite happy about that :) I have massive bags under my eyes from months of insomnia though..

You'll surely appreciate it later in your life that you look so young. It reminds me the first time I and my hubby attend a Language course, everybody thought we were twins and we're 17 years old. There was even this one guy in the class who seems to show interest to me and was so shocked to find out when I told them that, the guy next to me(not my twin brother) is my husband and I'm 27 years old.=)

I would say late teens or very early 20's. One day in the future, you are going to be glad that you look young for your age.

    I'd say you're 16 at most.
However you should appreciate that, and hope it'll last :-D.
Let me quote something from the net about beauty: Research on facial attractiveness has pointed out that the presence of childlike facial features increases attractiveness.

So be a proud child woman.

Yeah but it sucks to be hit on by 15 year old boys...

    Hey Tellie,
It doesn't matter what other people think about you. What matters is how you feel about yourself. One day you will be very thankful that you look as young as you do. If the truth was known, the other girls are very jealous. Our daughter had the same problem for years but she overcame it. She still doesn't look 32 but who cares. She has a family and is doing very well despite what others think. I think you are handling it very well and your talents more than make up for the way you look. I like the picture but I think it would have been much nicer to see a big pearly white smile on your face. Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving such nice comments. Have a great week!

I agree with everyone else. Looking younger than your real age is something you will definitely appreciate later in life. I'd say you do look 16 and that's a compliment! Sometimes, because of my petite stature, I have a tendency to look younger than my age too.

By the way, I'm a hard stick too. The most I had was 8 times at a time. It's awful but now I've learned to call the IV Team and remind them to bring the ultrasound -that's how hard a stick I am!

Honestly, I think a lot of age perception depends on a person's demeanor and body language. Some people focus more on faces, whereas others take in the whole package. While your face does look young (and I still occasionally get carded for R-rated movies) it will just benefit you that much more as you get older. BTW, I started medical school before I could legally drink, but when I started seeing patients, I rarely got questioned about my age. Be confident in your own abilities and let everyone else guess how you managed to get so far at such a young age.

Okay, I’m really bad at guessing peoples ages but based on the pic you’ve posted you look like you’re between 16-18. Don’t get mad! :D

You definitely look younger than you are. You look about 15 I would say. I think you should take the fact that you look young as a positive. I hope you continue to look younger than your age all your life!

Someday you may be happy to look so young, but I sympathize with your frustration. My niece is 19, a college sophomore, but since she's less than five feet tall, she gets offered children's menus and unaccompanied minor privileges. Meanwhile, she's so freakishly intelligent that sometimes I can't even figure out her writing, but it's hard to get strangers to take her seriously.

By the way, thanks for visiting and commenting on my daughter's blog (Cupcake).

Hey there. thanks for the post! You do look on the young side but I know I've had some one mistake me for a high schooler and a friend of me wished me a happy 29th birthday on my recent 24th birthday, so anyway, I think 20 somethings are hard to pin down. You'll be happy when you're 50 anyway ;)

This blog made me chuckle! I get the same thing so often: most people think I'm still in my teens. I probably don't have it quite as bad because I am four inches taller than you. :) But yes, I remember the day I turned 22, I went out to eat for my birthday. The lady heard it was my birthday and said, "Oh, are you excited to get your driver's license soon?!" Oh dear.
That said, I think you look about 18 from this picture or so.
Don't you love how often everyone tells you that you'll appreciate it when your older? I get that all the time!
    I'm almost 24 now. It's moved up some...now most people think I'm 18. :)

You do look young... if I didn't know your age, I would say you're around 16. Just try and take it as a compliment. I'm 38 and I so wanna look like I was 16 again! :)

You do look really young, but that should be a compliment! My guess for your age looking at the photo would be about 18. I'd rather look younger than older any day. Enjoy, as this is a sign that you ages well, always remember that it could be worse, as in looking three times older than your normal age!

You really look young. But in my opinion, I'd take it as a compliment. Because a lot of people are trying so hard to hide their age and are dying to get a compliment like such from others.

On the flipside, it doesn't matter if you look young or old as long as we are acting our age then the respect from other people will always be there. :)

Yeah, you look 12, but if 12-14 is half your age you will appreciate this soon! Appreciation really is just around the corner :D At 28, I can see my age creeping up on me. See, what will happen is one day you'll look in the mirror or see a picture of yourself and think, "what!? when did this happen!?"
  • lorraine · 4 months ago
Hello..I know what you mean..I was in college then and I was with my cousin who was then a 6th grader. The woman we met thought I WAS THE 6TH GRADER! I will never forget her facial expression!
  • Tasha · 3 months ago
You do look young. I have had the same problem. I am 30 and can pass for 22 or younger depending on how I dress. It can be very frustrating. I have a 12 year old son and I am mistaken for being his older sister all the time. I Know how old I am and the years of my life I've experienced. It really used to get to me and I would walk around angry at comments people would make. I don't care what people think now. People judge everyone based on first impressions. That is human nature. YOU are are beautiful person in a small package. Smile and say thank you next time someone says you look young. People who don't have this problem don't even know they are offending anyone. Even though it is the same as saying to someone's face "hey did you know you are really over-weight?" Focus on you and your goals in life.

I myself am 20 years old an look twelve to 16.I AM ONLY 83 LBS i know girl. i know. you look late teens early twenties to me. I also have same problem and I also think it holds me back in the world of work! Age discrimination and being treated like a child! It is even worse now because of the economy and I can't find a freakin job!!!!
